Pardevalles
Valdevimbre, León, Spain
Heritage Winemaking in León D.O.
Some wineries are defined by scale. Others are defined by origin. Pardevalles belongs to the latter — a family estate rooted in León’s soil since 1949, built on generations of grape growers who believed that wine should speak clearly of where it comes from.
“Expressing character and identity” is not a slogan here. It is the guiding principle.
A Legacy Across Generations
Founded in 1949 by Rafael Alonso, Pardevalles continues today under the leadership of the second and third generations of the family. What began as a family dedication to growing grapes and crafting wine has evolved into a respected estate within León D.O., without ever losing its founding essence.
Tradition is preserved not through nostalgia, but through continuity. Each generation safeguards the work of the previous one, while carefully refining it.
Guardians of Indigenous Varieties
Pardevalles has played a vital role in promoting León D.O., particularly through the development of its native grapes:
- Prieto Picudo — vibrant, structured, and uniquely expressive
- Albarín Blanco — fresh, aromatic, and elegant
The estate’s philosophy is grounded in deep respect for the land and for these indigenous varieties. Tradition, innovation, and disciplined craftsmanship work together to ensure that each wine reflects its true origin.
Valdevimbre: Wine Beneath the Earth
Located in Valdevimbre, near the historic Camino de Santiago, the estate sits in a village famous for its ancient underground caves — once used for winemaking centuries ago.
Today, Pardevalles blends modern winemaking facilities with a subterranean cave more than 300 years old, which serves as the winery’s barrel room.
This historic cave offers natural aging conditions:
- Constant temperature of 12ºC
- Humidity between 75–80%
- 125 French and American oak barrels
In this silent, stone-carved space, wines mature slowly and steadily, shaped by time and equilibrium.
In Essence
Pardevalles is not simply a winery.
It is a continuation of a family promise.
Through respect for indigenous grapes, dedication to León D.O., and the quiet strength of its historic caves, the estate produces wines that are grounded, authentic, and unmistakably tied to their origin.
These are wines that do not imitate.
They endure — carrying the character and identity of León in every bottle.
