Ciabot
For more than 125 years, the story of Ciabot has been one of family, love, and passion — a dialogue between generations united by one shared goal: to bring the best fruit of their vineyards to tables around the world.
The Story of Ciabot
It all began in 1896, when Giovanni, the family’s patriarch, purchased a small vineyard in Farigliano, signing the notarial deed with a simple “X.” That moment marked the birth of Cantina del Ciabot, and a journey that continues to this day through three generations: Giovanni, Maurizio, Rocco, Fiorella, Umberto, and Flaviana — all bound by a profound love for their land and their craft.
Their dedication and hard work over the decades have shaped Ciabot into a symbol of Piedmontese excellence. From that first vineyard still comes one of their flagship wines: the Dogliani Superiore “Cento Vigneti,” a pure expression of history and terroir.
The Winery
The heart of Ciabot beats in Farigliano, where tradition meets innovation inside a modern, well-equipped cellar. Here, pressing and vinification take place under the careful guidance of the family, balancing respect for old-world savoir-faire with the creativity of new generations.
Their philosophy is simple yet powerful: to remain in constant motion between past and future. Ancient techniques of aging in wood coexist with modern white winemaking methods that bring exceptional freshness and minerality. Each bottle is a bridge between time-honored knowledge and forward-thinking passion.
The Vineyards
Ciabot’s vineyards stretch across some of Piedmont’s most prestigious areas — from Doglianese to Roero, and now to Alessandria, where a new adventure began in 2020 with the cultivation of Timorasso.
The family cultivates vines in the municipalities of Farigliano, Dogliani, Monforte, Serralunga, La Morra, Castagnito, Santo Stefano Roero, Montà, and Viguzzolo, each offering unique soil and microclimatic nuances. Over time, they’ve learned to celebrate these differences, crafting both mono-varietal wines and innovative blends that highlight the character of each grape.
From the noble Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Arneis, Moscato, and Favorita to international varieties such as Cabernet, Merlot, and Sauvignon, Ciabot’s wines reflect the diversity and harmony of their land — wines with soul, shaped by nature and refined by time.
A Family That Never Stops Growing
Today, the Marengo family continues to build on Giovanni’s legacy, preserving the values that have guided them since that first vineyard purchase: authenticity, perseverance, and respect for the land. Ciabot is not only a winery — it’s a living testament to how love and passion, when shared across generations, can become something timeless.
